THE 10 MOST POPULAR NAMES AT GOOD DOG

One question we’re asked frequently is, “What’s the most popular dog name at Good Dog?”. Off the tops of our heads, a few come to mind, but we thought it was time to quantify our answers. We’ve run the data on dog names from June 2018 (when we bought the business) to today (July 2023).

So many dogs, so many names... But which name is the most popular?

Over the course of the past five years, we’ve had a lot of original names come through our doors, but we’ve narrowed down our list of the most popular dog names - our top 10. We’ve grouped dogs whose names tied in our top ten and we didn’t include any variations, eg. Ellie vs. Ellie Mae, or Roxy vs. Roxie.


NUMBER 10

Starting off our countdown are our number 10 most popular dog names at Good Dog. We have four frequencies of each of the following: Bailey, Biscuit, Blue, Coco, Daisy, Ellie, Emma, Finley, Harvey, Ivy, Jasper, Kona, Leo, Loki, Maisie, Mochi, Nala, Remy, Riley, Roxy, Scooter, Winnie, and Zeus.

In the number nine spot are a group of which we have five dogs with each name: Annie, Hazel, Mabel, Max, Maya, Olive, Ollie, Roo, and Sam.

NUMBER 8

The group of the eighth most popular dog names includes Bear, Gracie, Hank, Henry, Jake, Molly, Otis, Rosie, Theo, and Wally.

Coming in as the seventh most popular dog names at Good Dog are Bodhi, Cooper, Finn, Frankie, Freddie, Harley, Louis, Maggie, Milo, and Ruby.

We’re seeing fewer numbers of the names as we creep closer to the top spot. The sixth most popular names are Oliver, Poppy, Scout, Tucker, and Winston.

There’s just one pair of names in fifth place, it’s Buddy and Penny.

Our number four spot is held by a trio of names that we thought would’ve ranked higher: Bella, Luna, and Murphy.
